MAKE A SPLASH @ YOUR LIBRARY

Catch the reading wave this summer at the Minot Public Library.  Everyone can ride the reading wave by participating in the 2010 summer reading program.
Sail away this summer to the land of books.  Children who read a minimum of thirty minutes per week will be eligible for weekly drawings that will be held throughout the summer.  Children signing up for the program will be given a time log to keep track of the time they spend reading each week.  They will be given one chance to win for each symbol crossed off the time log.  Children will also be given a chance to win each time they check out materials.  
Drawings will be held weekly throughout the summer.  Grand prizes will be given at the end of the program.  Prizes include: $100 Gift Card given by JOHNSON EYE CARE AND EYE WEAR, Subway Gift Card given by SUBWAY, a Family Pass for 2011 to ROOSEVELT ZOO and a $100 Gift Card given by SUNDRE SAND & GRAVEL.  In addition, children who read at least one hour for eight weeks will receive a pass to SPLASH DOWN at the SLEEP INN.                                                           
The program will kick off on June 3rd in Room 201 of the Minot Municipal Auditorium starting at 2:00 PM.  Kevin McMullin, a nationally-known children’s entertainer, will make a splash by entertaining children of all ages with stories and songs.  Sign up for summer reading beginning at 1:30 PM at the auditorium or anytime after that at the Minot Public Library.
The program will conclude with drawings for the final prizes to be held at Roosevelt Park Zoo August 12th.  Watch your local newspaper for time and further details. 

 

SET SAIL FOR THE LIBRARY

School Age Children Grades 1-5 are invited to take part in our weekly programs designed just for them.

Join one of the meteorologists from KX on June 17th at 2:00 PM and learn more about anything that has to do with weather.

Come learn the science of bubbles at Bubbleology 101 on June 24th at 2:00 PM with Joanne Schapp, science teacher at Bishop Ryan.  

Hop right into the Frog program on July 8th at 2:00 PM with Dr. Chris Beachy from MSU talking about his studies with frogs.

Make a splash with color on July 15th.  We will be doing some watercolor activities with a local artist at 2:00 PM.

Learn all about the Wetlands of North Dakota on July 22nd at 2:00 PM Personnel from the Upper Souris Refuge will present the program.

It’s a Beach Party.  Join the staff from Minot Public for all kinds of fun activities on July 29th at 2:00 PM.
