LITTLE BUNNY
Little Bunny why are you so sad?
And why are you out of bed?
You have silky ears and a patched tummy.
Oh, why are you sad my little bunny?
You have bright brown eyes.
And a light blue bow around your neck.
And you're equally loved between my dog.
Now go to sleep my little bunny.

WINDY DAY
Can't you see it's a windy day?
I'm stuck indoors all this sunny day.
It's cold outdoors said my momma today.
The school was closed and my friends cannot play.
What can I do today?
I can play with the wind and frost.
And don't forget the hail.
So I did.
Grade 2 Second Place AIDAN
I LOVE YOU POEM
Every guitar loves a band.
Every Mom loves a hand.
Every plant loves the land.
And I love you.
Grade 2 Third Place JESSICA
NORTH DAKOTA
I drop tiny, puny sunflower seeds in the ground from my hand.
When they grown up big and tall, the flowers will be grand.
In spring the rain falls and makes the seeds sprout.
The green leaves push the dirt away now they pop out.
The sun shines on them and now they grow up to my knees.
I love these beautiful, happy flowers and so do the bees.
In summer the sunflower fields grow high above my head.
The new seeds are brown but the petals look like rich golden thread.
It's harvest time the sunflowers are as tall as my dad.
The fall is coming, the sunflowers will die, and that makes me really sad.
Grade 3 First Place MAGGIE
NORTH DAKOTA
In winter it is very chilly.
Lots of kids are being silly.
In summer it is steaming hot.
The place is boiling like a pot.
In fall we love leaves.
They all tumble from trees.
In the spring the grass is extra green.
The air is extra clean.
Grade 3 Second Place COLIN

MY BUNNY
My favorite pet
Lives on a farm.
When naptime comes
She lays on my arm.
My pal is a bunny
With long floppy ears.
She stays small
For days and years.
When she is scared
My bunny keeps still.
At time I must protect her
And I always will.
Her favorite snack is lettuce
And she loves me too!

CLOTHES
This morning when I woke up,
I looked for what to wear,
When I saw my closet was a mess,
I wore a distant stare.
So many things were on the floor,
I couldn't count them all,
I felt like my clothes ere very big,
And I was very small.
When I opened up a drawer,
A million clothes fell on the floor,
I opened up another one,
And what fell out weighed a ton.
I looked at the clock,
And didn't know what to do,
Not only was I late for school,
I lost my favorite shoe.
When I finally found my shoe,
I worked my way to the door,
I almost screamed, I almost blew,
I couldn't take it anymore!
My room was a mess,
I was covered in stress,
I didn't know what to wear,
I thought to myself, just maybe I should rip out my hair.
Finally when I got to school,
Everybody said your shirt is cool,
Then I said, "This day isn't so bad,"
I could barely believe this morning I was mad.
So today when I went school,
I wore a shirt that's red,
Then my brother said to me,
That's what you wore to bed.

WHAT IS YELLOW?
Yellow is a baby chick when it's first born, or
My favorite raincoat I've always worn.
Yellow is fall my favorite season of all.
Yellow is the taxi driving by, or
The taste of my grandma's lemon pie.
Yellow is the yellow lab that I love a lot, or
How the sun is beaming hot!
Yellow is the big lion with the cold nose, or
The smell of the garden's yellow rose.
Yellow is the morning's air, and yellow
Reminds me of that time when I had to eat my waxed bean's on my brothers dare.
Grade 4 Second Place ALEXANDRA
THE PASSING OF THE GAUNTLETS
The moment has come, the gauntlets are passed.
An old knight rests, A loss has been cast.
A battle for mind and feeling,
The equipment they wield more deadly than mine.
A sword draws blood.
A flame dies down.
But with the amulet senses dull, reason scatters.
But these six, so strong and bold, still have a story to be told.
Grade 4 Second Place CHRIS
GOLF
Put the ball on the tee.
Try not to hit the tree.
To golf you need a bag.
Try not to hit the flag.
Pick up the club.
Watch out for that shrub.
Watch the ball roll.
As it goes down the hole.
Grade 4 Third Place MASON
RAIN
Rain feels like a wet flake melting
Rain looks like clear drops falling from the sky
Rain is the color of misty air
Rain sounds like a needle dropping
Rain makes me think of rainbows
Rain makes the sign of nature
Rain tastes like fresh water
Grade 4 Third Place CLAUDIA
LIBS
My sister's name is Libs.
When she eats she wears her bibs.
My sister sometimes likes to cry
She does not even tell a lie.
I think she know how to talk
I hope she know how to walk.
When she go burned.
A good lesson she learned.
She is not very old.
She is as good as gold.
Grade 4 Honorable Mention DYLAN
MOM
Always cares
Believes in me
Care about where I am
Deals with me when I'm hyper
Excellent worker, Sandy
Feels good about herself
Great at cleaning
Home when I need her
I love her very much
Just strange sometimes
Keeps me on track
Learns things with me
Makes me laugh when I'm sad
Never gives up on me
Opens the door for a new day everyday
Pulls me away from bad things
Questions a lot, cause she cares
Reads a lot
Sews when she gets a chance to
Tells the truth to us
Uses her time wisely
Violence - she does not like at all
Wants me to go to states she has been
X-box - she does not know how to play
Yells when I don't listen
Zoos are her favorite place to go
Grade 4 Honorable Mention SAMANTHA
SHOPPING
Shopping is so much fun!
The bags often weigh a ton.
I love to shop from store to store.
So I can buy more and more!
I go the the mall with my friends.
We try to catch up with the latest trends.
I know that it is time to go
When my money is getting low!
Grade 5 First Place HANNAH
SPRING
Spring is when you jump in puddles,
get all wet, and dirty too.
Spring is when the sun shines and flowers bloom.
Warmer weather gives kids
more things to do such as
running, jumping, outdoor
games and lots of recesses
with more of the same.
Hopping, skipping, and
playing ball with the arrival of
spring, there is fun for all.
Grade 5 Second Place TIMOTHY
Books are good, books are fine
mysteries, romance, all books divine
sometimes scary, sometimes sad
some books make you happy and glad
school books, novels and picture books, too
if you can not read yet, I'll read them to you.

PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT
Pyramids of sand
And stone
Built for a king
All alone.
Alone like a tower
Built in the sand
Created from scratch
With a mere tool in hand.
Khufu's was first
The Great Pyramid it was called
His enemies were shocked
Ands some were appalled.
He wasn't scared
He couldn't care less
He told them what to do
And who to bless.
Things in the chamber
Some made of gold
Now in museums
To have and to hold.
Pharaohs in tombs
Laid to rest
In hieroglyphics
They were considered the best.
We do not know how the
Great Pyramid was built
All we know is that it was made
From stone and silt.
Inside are traps
And tombs
And sometimes you'll
Find empty rooms.
Now you know
The story true
When time comes
I'll be there too.
