Directions to the Library
- The Minot Public Library is located at 516 Second Ave Southwest in Minot, ND; across the street from City Hall and the Police Station.
- If you are traveling north on Broadway: Turn left(west) at the Second Avenue intersection (has a traffic light). Travel down the hill. The library will be on your right. Turn right to get into the parking lot.
- If you are traveling south on Broadway: Turn right at First Avenue Southwest (between I. Keating Furniture World and Norwest Bank). Travel down the hill. You will see the library next to the railroad tracks. Turn right into the parking lot.
- If you are traveling south on Sixth Street Southwest: As you pass Lincoln School (on your right), go under the railroad tracks. Immediately after the underpass is the Second Avenue/Sixth Street intersection (there is a traffic light). Turn left. You are now in front of the library. Take the first left and then left again into the parking lot.
- If you are traveling north on Sixth Street: The Second Avenue/Sixth Street intersection is at the bottom of the hill. Turn right onto Second Avenue. Take the first left and then left again into the parking lot.

Mission Statement
To provide adults and children with printed and non-print material, supply access to information, offer a current in-depth collection of materials and sponsor special activities emphasizing the importance of reading - all to meet informational, recreational, educational and cultural needs of Minot citizens.
Getting a Library Card
You must have your library card to check materials out.
Library cards are available to anyone with a permanent or student address in Minot or the seven county region surrounding Minot.
Persons applying for a card must provide identification and a reference and complete the application.
A child must be 4 years old to obtain their own library card.
A $2.00 charge is assessed for replacement of a lost card.Loan Periods
A-V Equipment (slide projector) is available for rent at $5.00/day.
Books are checked out for 3 weeks. They can be renewed.
Compact Disc Collection are checked out for 3 weeks. Limit: eight CDs per library card.
CDs are included in the online catalog. CDs can be reserved and renewed.Magazines are not checked out.
Video Tapes and DVD's are located in the Adult Department on the second floor and in the Children's Library on the main floor. Videos and DVD's are checked out for 7 days, NO RENEWALS. Limit: four videos per library card.
Overdue Materials
Mailing overdue notices is the library's attempt to retrieve materials.
The library is not required to send overdue notices.
Overdue charges must be paid even if a notice is not received.
A 10 cent per day per item fine is charged on most books, paperbacks, records, cassettes, book paks, and pamphlets. The maximum overdue charge per item is $5.00.OTHER OVERDUE CHARGES

Request to Purchase Material
Patrons are encouraged to recommend titles for purchase. The Materials Selection Committee will be happy to consider a request. A reserve card can be completed at the Circulation Desk. The following information is needed--author, artist, composer, etc. and title. If the requested item is on order or ordered your request will be filed. If the item will not be ordered, you will be called and informed of the decision.
Interlibrary Loan Policy
GENERAL STATEMENT: If the Minot Public Library does not have the material a patron needs we will try to get the material for them from another library.
ACCESS: The library has access to materials (more than 40,000,000 records in over 25,000 libraries) from major libraries through the MINITEX and OCLC systems. Most book materials are available with the exception of restricted material which includes rare books, genealogical materials, reference materials, reference books, and current best sellers, records, etc.
CHARGES:
- When Minot Public Library borrows a book from another library, there is a $3.00 service charge.
- When the library loaning material to Minot Public Library charges any fees, the cost is passed on to the individual requesting the loan.
