Our Mainstage season, faculty-directed for Aleshire stage in Hartnett Hall, must include one classical work, one modern work (1880-1950), and one contemporary work (1950-present). Our Black Box season is much less structured and open to anyone who would like to produce their own play. Prior to production, approval is needed. Black Box performances take place in our Black Box theater, a converted classroom/costume shop/green room located on the east side of Hartnett Hall. Campus Players, the oldest student organization on campus, produces the annual Christmas production. In addition we have a new academic program on campus called the Creative Dramatics minor. One of its focuses is to introduce area elementary school students to the wonderful world of theatre. We do that by touring productions of puppet or live action performances. Finally, we are the proud owners of the MSU Summer Theatre company. If you would like to view the history of MSU theatre, please take a stroll down the Theatre hallway in Hartnett Hall. There you can see one photo from every one of our productions since 1914. We hope you enjoy the work we do here at Minot State University, and I promise we will continue to offer you the highest quality of entertainment we can. Enjoy, and we will see you at the theatre.
