New Program!

Do you love playing chess? Do you want to learn more about it? We are stoked to announce that we are bringing this timeless game to the community with a brand-new Chess Club at the library!

The game of chess has a very rich history. Some scholars theorize the earliest form was an Indian game called chaturanga. Although chess is newer than some, it does have a place amongst the oldest known board games. Chess is a strategic challenge that can boost cognitive and problem-solving skills. With the ability to engage players of all ages and backgrounds, it’s great for community engagement and making new friendships.

Our first meeting will be Tuesday, April 16th from 6:00-7:00 pm in the North Meeting Room of the Minot Public Library. We will have 2 meetings in May before a short break during the summer months. Chess Club will pick back up in the fall with meetings twice a month!

From competitive players seeking a challenge to folks just looking to play a few casual games of chess, people of all experience levels are welcome! This program is intended for ages 7+. Children 8 and under must have a caregiver present. Registration is not required!
