Donations

The Minot Public Library is committed to being the center of information and exploration for the community. Charitable contributions from individuals, families, businesses and community organizations are necessary to ensure Library collections, services and programs remain viable and vibrant, reflecting and responding to our community’s needs.

The Friends of the Minot Public Library has established an Endowment which accept gifts on behalf of the Library. Donations to the non-profit, IRS designated 501(c)3 organization are tax-deductible. Gifts to the Friends’ Endowment generate income to supplement funding from the City of Minot with income for the principle donated.

In cooperation with the Friends of the Library, the Minot Public Library fundraises through donations, mailings, and book sales. Private contributions expand and replace materials in the varied Library collections (books, magazines, DVDs, CDs), enhance technology, provide educational programs and encourage literacy.

The Friends of the Minot Public Library accepts books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVD donations in good condition year-round. You may deliver donations during Library hours to the garage door on the east side of the library. Call us at (701-852-1045) as you arrive and we will open the door. Note, as of 2023 the library is currently not taking donations, we hope to start taking them again in 2024.
The Friends does NOT accept: damaged or musty books, magazines, Readers Digest condensed books, VHS tapes, encyclopedias, used fill-in-the blank books, or tools. Refer to the Minot Public Library’s Collection Management Policy.

You can show your appreciation of Library efforts and honor loved ones by making gifts in honor or memory of someone special. Contributions to the Memorial Fund can be used to purchase collection materials in general subject areas as outlined below in section 1c.

Long-range estate and financial planning can also provide significant gifts to the Library, while benefiting your tax position. The Friends of the Minot Public Library may be designated as beneficiary of an entire estate, a specific bequest, a living trust or a charitable remainder trust. Other planned giving options include gifts of stocks, securities or properties.

If you have a question, please contact the Library Director, Zhaina Moya, at 701-852-1045.

Volunteer

The Minot Public Library often needs outreach volunteers to deliver books and materials to individuals who are unable to come to the library. All volunteers accepted for outreach service will receive orientation and training. In addition, volunteers are sometimes needed to help shelve books, help with special events and other misc. projects.

Currently MPL is looking for volunteers to help shelve books in the Adult Library. Download a volunteer application, or pick one up at the Minot Public Library 2nd floor service desk.

Volunteers contribute over 1,200 hours of service to the Library each year. Thanks to all who volunteer!
