Summer is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready to dig a little deeper this year. The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, “Unearth a Story,” invites readers of all ages to discover hidden worlds, buried histories, and unforgettable adventures.
From June 1st through July 30th, we’re challenging our community to read 20 minutes per day for at least 30 days. Each day you read and log it in the Beanstack app helps you win prizes all summer long, it also increases your chances to win even bigger prizes at the end of July! Plus, readers at the Minot Public Library have the chance to use each day they read to vote on an important outdoor centerpiece: an exciting new community bench where connection, creativity and memories can continue to be made. Pre-registration is already open, so head over to Beanstack today to get a head start on planning your summer of stories.
Alongside our regular lineup of beloved library programs, you’ll find dinosaur and archaeology themed events woven throughout the summer. Expect hands-on activities, engaging programs, and opportunities to learn about the past. It’s all about uncovering something new, whether that’s a fossil, a fact, or a favorite author.
We’re kicking things off with our Summer Reading Kickoff Party. All ages are invited to join Minot Public Library and Ward County Public Librarydowntownon Saturday, May 30th from 1:00–2:30 PM. Participants will take part in a scavenger hunt where they will follow clues, explore local spots, and work their way through a fun, discovery filled adventure. This event will begin at Main Street Books.
