Nurtured Heart will help you help your child to discover their greatness. Nurtured Heart parenting techniques will successfully address difficult and intense child behaviors at home, school and in public. Parenting the Love and Logic Way is a video-based parenting class for parents of young children. The five sessions illustrate parenting techniques that emphasize empathy, respect, logic and limits. The program will also benefit the parents of older children.

Basic Beginnings is the perfect class for new or expectant parents. By engaging in hands on activities, demonstrations, and discussions, parents learn the basics of baby care as it relates to bonding, attachment, safety, health, sleep, feeding, and development. Bright Beginnings is a series of classes to aid in understanding and enhancing your young child’s growth and development from the prenatal period through age 8.

Bright Beginnings is especially designed for expectant parents, parents raising young children and caregivers of young children.

Signing 1 and 2 are opportunities to learn basic sign language to use with young children. Signing can be an effective, fun way to decrease frustration between you and your child. Building Strong Families is designed to help families identify their own strengths and learn skills to build on those strengths. Topics include: Family Strengths, Communicating, Managing Stress, Child Self-Care, Food & Fitness, Working, Go For It!, Positive Discipline, Money Matters, Balancing Responsibilities, Consumer Beware, Healthy House, Kids and Self-Esteem.

Active Parenting: First Five Years teaches the fundamental attitudes and skills necessary for parenting young children: parental self-esteem and self-care, basic child developmental stages, bonding, discipline skills, encouragement skills, safety etc. Active Parenting Now is designed for parents of 5-12 years old. It is video based and teaches the skills needed to be an active vs. reactive parent by exploring cooperation, responsibility, discipline, redirecting, character, and self-esteem. Active Parenting of Teens is a video and discussion based curriculum which teaches skills for being an active vs. reactive parent. The program addresses the same topics (for a different developmental stage) as Active Parenting Now and also includes Drugs, Sexuality and Violence: Reducing the Risks.

Parents Forever is a research-based, comprehensive educational program that puts parents on the path to minimizing stress for themselves and their children. Parents Forever participants learn how to make informed child-supportive decisions so children will come through separation or divorce having a positive relationship with both parents. There is a fee for this class.

Cooperative Parenting and Divorce provides parents with techniques to address parenting issues created as a result of separation and/or divorce.

Active Parenting for Stepfamilies is a discussion and video based program that introduces skills and techniques necessary for successfully building and nurturing a blended family.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is a parent education class for individuals with intellectual disabilities that are parents of young children.

Teen 2 Teen and Baby 2 is especially designed for new and expecting teen parents. Parents learn basic childcare techniques and tips for addressing issues and questions that often arise during the first year of parenting.

The Parent Resource Center also offers on-site parenting classes at several agencies and other sites upon request.

Fees
All classes (except Parents Forever) are free and funded by the Department of Human Services, Children and Family Services Division, Child Protection Program and presented by NDSU Extension-Ward County.
