Happy National Library Week (NLW). What is National Library Week? How did it start?
NLW takes place in April each year to highlight and celebrate libraries and library workers and to also promote library use and support. NLW started in 1958 as a way to encourage people to read more on their down time during a period when radios and TVs were gaining popularity. Reading has since been linked to several health benefits, including stress reduction, improved sleep, improved cognitive function, and more. Each year, there is a different theme to accompany NLW. The theme for 2025 is “Drawn to the Library.”
This week at Minot Public Library, we are celebrating with a spirit week as well as games and prizes! We encourage patrons to celebrate with us by taking part in spirit week and enjoying in-house giveaways. Visit your library today to explore its resources and celebrate all the ways the library draws us together as a community.
