New Program!

Do you love playing chess? Do you want to learn more about it? We are stoked to announce that we are bringing this timeless game to the community with a brand-new Chess Club at the library! The game of chess has a very rich history. Some scholars theorize the earliest form was an Indian game called chaturanga. Although chess is newer than some, it does have a place amongst the oldest known board games. Chess

Peek-A-Boo Haiku

"Each haiku in this lift-the-flap board book will have readers guessing the animal it describes--with the answer revealed under a flap on each page! With lovely text, sweet illustrations, and cute creatures, this lyrical and interactive book is a joy to read!"

The Death of the Hat

A collection of "poems through history inspired by objects--earthly and celestial--reflecting the time in which each poet lived"

We Rise Higher

"We Rise Higher: Poems and Prayers for Graduates supports youth as they celebrate, commemorate, and reflect on graduating high school and moving on to the next phase of life."

"In her most famous spoken-word poem, author of the Pura Belpr-winning novel-in-verse The Poet X Elizabeth Acevedo embraces all the complexities of Black hair and Afro-Latinidad--the history, pain, pride, and powerful love of that inheritance. Paired with full-color illustrations by artist Andrea Pippins in a format that will appeal to fans of Mahogany L. Browne's Black Girl Magic or Jason Reynolds's For Everyone, this poem can now be read in a vibrant package, making it the ideal gift, treasure, or inspiration for readers of any age."

2AM Thoughts

"I met you at dusk. We loved till midnight. / Then, you left me. 2am found me at my lowest. / When the sun came up, I dried my tears, found my strength, and went on with my day." The poetry of 2am Thoughts condenses an entire relationship with its untamed emotions and experiences to a single day. As the long hours of the night drag on, so does the love, heartache, and loss. When the dawn breaks, the morning sun brings acceptance, healing, and recovery.
